Week 6

Begun filming footage for factual documentary revolving around smoking. we have shanghied a few people into being in our documentary from smokers to non smokers. I still cant decided what angle I want to film but oh wells that comes with the trade i suppose.

Week 5

I'm working in my group now and we have selected our ideas for filming our documentary. Our factual Documentary will be on exposing the truth behind teenage life and whether there is a misconception about teenage behaviour. The Social action part will focus on student finaces and mainly the abolishment of EMA.

St Richards Hospital

I am hoping to investigate into several stories that I’ve been told concerning the Middleton Ward of St Richards Hospital in Chichester. The information comes from a former patient at the hospital and is reliable. After undergoing an operation at the hospital (which was carried out very well) the treatment she received afterwards was very poor and she along with other patients were seriously neglected.

Disturbingly this kind of behaviours is not exclusive to St Richards but hospitals country wide as I’ve heard similar stories where the ward is just a dumping ground for elderly patients where they are neglected until they are discharged from the hospital.

Obviously further investigation is required to get to the bottom of this story which is why I want to investigate this because it is an issue that I feel not only effects the lives of the patients in question, but also their families who are concerned for their health. I mean why do you send people to the hospital if not to get better?

Initial Ideas

My nan recently had a hip operation and she told me a rathern unsettling story about her treatment at St. Richards. She said the operation went well but her care afterwards was very bad. If possible i would like to investigate this further however I may be biting off way more than I can chew here. I think this story could work well because I already have interviews ready (my nan + others) and this has a personal relevance to me as i want to make sure that other people get treated with respect so that no one has to be put through what my nan did.
